Hide Your Imperfections with Our Dental Veneers in Honolulu at Hawaii Cosmetic Dental
Our dental veneers are an excellent way to permanently update your smile! Veneers are thin custom made shells that cover the front surface of your tooth to improve their appearance. They are made of tooth-colored materials and can be used to improve the color of teeth that have been worn down or stained. Alternatively, they can be used to improve the shape or size of the tooth. Consult with your dentist to learn more about if dental veneers would be right for you.
Veneers can solve several cosmetic issues:
- Discoloration
- Chips or cracked teeth
- Unwanted gaps between teeth
- Crooked or misshapen teeth
Types of Veneers
There are currently two common types of HonoluIu dental veneers. Porcelain veneers are the most common because they are extremely durable and last a lifetime if well taken care of. Porcelain veneers are also custom-created to be your ideal smile and are individually created at a dental laboratory. This type of veneer is more expensive, though they are typically a one-time investment.
Composite resin veneers are more affordable than porcelain veneers, though they also may need to be replaced every few years. Composite resin veneers look great and can enhance the size, shape, and color of a patient’s smile. They are susceptible to chipping or signs of wear, though they still make an ideal option for many patients. Talk to Dr. Rosala to determine which type of dental veneer would be right for your smile.
Composite Veneers:
- Applied in a single visit
- More affordable than porcelain veneers
- Easy to repair if necessary
Porcelain Veneers:
- Stain-resistant
- Will last a lifetime
- Celebrity smile
How It's Done
Two visits to Dr. Rosala are typically required for porcelain veneers. At the first visit, three important steps are completed. Firstly, your teeth are prepared to be fitted with a veneer, which will involve trimming a portion of the tooth so the veneer can be bonded on top. Secondly, an impression is taken of your tooth which will be sent to a laboratory to prepare the veneer. Finally, you may receive a temporary veneer depending on how much of your tooth structure was removed. This temporary veneer will protect your tooth while the permanent veneer is prepared at the laboratory.
Getting Honolulu dental veneers may require multiple visits depending on what type of veneer you get. Composite resin veneers can be completed in just one visit because they are applied and adjusted by Dr. Rosala. However, porcelain veneers are created by a dental laboratory and will take at least two visits to complete.
To receive porcelain veneers, your teeth will need to be prepared. This means that Dr. Rosala will initially grind down the enamel of your tooth in order to make room for your new veneers. This will also create a grittier surface for the veneer to attach to. In between visits, you'll be provided with temporary veneers to help protect your natural teeth. Dr. Rosala will also take a mold of your smile so that your custom veneers can be created. You will then come back to the office after a few weeks to have the custom veneers permanently attached. When you return for your final visit, Dr. Rosala will adjust the veneers to make sure you are totally satisfied with both the look and feel of your smile. It is important to let Dr. Rosala know about any necessary changed before the veneers are permanently sealed.
